The McCollums and Sullivans Make Meaningful Endowments and Scholarships

Alumni Nick ’19 and Makayla ’19 McCollum and Kate ’16 and Brendan Sullivan boldly stepped forward to champion student success through the creation of two separate endowments. The McCollums made a gift to create the McCollum Family Endowed Scholarship to assist students in the Scott College of Business who are active members of Pi Kappa Alpha or Zeta Tau Alpha. Kate and Brendan Sullivan made a gift to create the Sullivan Family Aspiring CFP® Scholarship to expand the support of students in the Scott College of Business who have aspirations of becoming a Certified Financial Planner. Their generosity demonstrates the power of giving back at any stage in life and fosters the culture of philanthropy at Indiana State.

Through this gift, I hope to encourage others to take that first step—because the earlier you begin giving back, the more lives you can touch and the greater your impact becomes.

Kate Sullivan works for Bedel Financial Consulting, Inc. as a Wealth Advisor, and her husband, Brendan, works as an Engineer for the Indianapolis Fire Department. Similar to the McCollums, Kate has remained a devoted Sycamore and currently serves as the chair of the Alumni Association Board. Their leadership is a reminder that it’s never too early to make a lasting impact.

The connections we built, the mentors who guided us, and the experiences we had at Indiana State shaped who we are today. Giving back is our way of honoring that impact—and helping future Sycamores find their own path
