The Dr. William “Bill” Brett Center for Science Research

Judy Brett GR ’77, GR ’87, longtime supporter of Indiana State University, made a gift to establish the Dr. William “Bill” Brett Center for Science Research in honor of her late husband. Dr. Brett was a dedicated professor emeritus in the Department of Life Sciences at Indiana State, which has since become the Department of Biology. Brett’s gift supports the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) program, and expands opportunities for students to engage in original research alongside faculty mentors.

In addition to supporting her alma mater, Brett dedicated 27 years of her career to serving as a counselor and case worker at Hamilton Center. Her enduring commitment to the University and her community was recognized with the March On! Award in 2020.

Bill was proud of Indiana State. Loving students and science, he would approve of my choice to endow the SURE program to support undergraduate research. As his wife, I am gratified that his name will continue to be spoken.
